How the score works
It follows how we pick a first build: the task that costs the most, with steps that repeat, and data that's already in a system.
- Hours per year = how often × time each time × people doing it × 46 working weeks.
- Cost per year = hours × your cost per hour. Tasks where mistakes cost money or customers count up to 1.5 times more.
- Readiness comes down when the steps vary or the data lives on paper. A task with varying steps is a process to settle first, then automate.
- The ranking multiplies the two, so an expensive task that's ready beats an expensive task that's messy.
